Right before Chinese New Year arrives this year, we decided to plan a trip to Bangkok, also known as the land of smiles. Well this time, I went with my boyfriend’s parents and tbh it was a pretty chill and relaxed trip. So here goes the 4D3N itinerary:
Day 1:
Sabx2 Noodles + Platinum Fashion Mall + The Seafood Market & Restaurant + Rod Fai Night Market Srinakarin
We land in Suvarnabhumi Airport (the newer one) at noon and cabbed to out hotel, Grand Diamond Suites Hotel. I knew it was a good location but I didn’t know it was THAT good. Well, it was just right beside Platinum mall so that’s pretty convenient. Albeit the Chit Lom BTW station was a 15 min walk away…but still. So Platinum is one of my favorite malls to shop in so we had a helluva time shopping around there for all 4 days.
Lunch was at the famous Sabx2 wanton noodles stall just directly opposite our hotel *not even kidding*. It is that close by. Anyway, the wanton noodles are distinctly different from other wanton noodles I’ve tasted because the noodles are lightly coated with oil which amplifies the fragrance and texture of the noodles. A little bird told me that previously their wanton noodles used to be more flavorful but oh well, the present product was pretty darn good too. Side note, they only sell it in one size and furthermore the portion is a quite small so you definitely get tempted to order more than one bowl. Because a bowl costs about SGD$4…it’s relatively pricey for such a small portion but well it comes with slices of char siew, real crab meat and lard plus veggies of course. Not too shabby for s street side stall.

We shopped around Platinum mall for a good few hours before going back to bathe and get ready for dinner.
For dinner, we went to The Seafood Market & Restaurant. This restaurant is abit further away but the experience there was pretty interesting. Upon entering the restaurant, you could see their tagline – “If it swims, we have it” HAHA which was quite ingenious in a way. The staff will bring you to a long stretch of counters display all type of seafood neatly nested in ice so that as you choose which seafood you want, the staff will put in collectively into the trolley as we move down the lane. Once we decided which seafood we wanted, we went to make payment for the seafood first before deciding how we wanted the seafood to be cooked. Side note: The is is considered a bit pricey because they charge the cooking methods for your seafood separately so technically you would be paying twice; once for the seafood, second for how you want your food to be cooked. A little bird said they are famous for their fried fish and wait for it…cheese OYSTERS. And well, I must say, the fish was really crispy and the cheese oysters is pretty good too. They don’t just add cheese to the oysters, there are also bits of mushroom and onions in it that makes it so delicious and unique. For me, 2-3 cheese oysters was enough because it can get a little “gelat” if you eat too many of them. But overall, this restaurant served decent food albeit the higher charge.

Because it was Thursday when we went to Rod Fai Night Market, there was a smaller crowd and not all the stalls were open but at least we manage to see some vintage cars and helicopters while shopping there(:
Day 2: Sabx2 Braised Pork Rice + Siam Square/Platinum Mall + Rod Fai Ratchada Night Market
So for the second day, we tried the Braised Pork Rice at the same wanton stall we ate on the first day. And boy. Thank god I went back there. The braise pork was the bomb… it literally was braised for so long that it melts in your mouth. Honestly I don’t like to eat the fatty parts of pork knuckles but for this I will. The rice was and gravy was PURRFECT. As you can tell, I preferred the rice over the wanton noodles just a littleee bit more.

Tried to shop at the higher end, more decent malls but bae’s mum preferred platinum mall (just like me) so we headed back to shop there instead hehe
In the evening we went to check out Rod Fai Ratchada Night Market by BTS. There was a insane queue at the BTS ticketing counter and we needed to switch to the MRT line so we took quite a while to get there. Rod Fai Ratchada was much livelier perhaps cause it was a Friday night so boy were there a lot of people. We managed to order a seafood tom yum soup and some snacks for dinner before we shopped heh.
Day 3: Chatuchak Weekend Market + Oyster Bar + Talad Neon Night Market
Chatuchak is kind of a must go place for me in Bangkok because its so big and there’s so much to BUYYY. Went there in the afternoon and the weather was goddamn sweltering HOT. But nothing like a good o’ sweating once in a while eh? Kidding. We shopped mostly in the inside alleys to avoid the heat >< About 3 hours later, we finished shopping and cabbed back to our hotel to take a rest. Grabbed a quick late lunch at a street stall selling crispy pizza and decided to check out the Oysters Bar for oysters. Oysters Bar is at Phrom Pheng BTS which was 4 stops from Chit Lom (where we were) so we took the MTS there and entered EmQuatier (the mall that Oyster Bar was located in). When our order arrived, the presentation of their food was damn impressive with the dry ice all. We ordered sashimi and 6 oysters and tbh they tasted pretty good. Their sashimi slices was a bit too thick but nevertheless, its fresh and GUDDD. As for the oysters, it was good that we packed another 6 back to our hotel. That’s how good it was.

Bae carried two bags of ice (chilling 6 oysters) all the way from the BTS station through our train ride back to the hotel. HAH #things you do for love (of oysters)
Day 4: Wrap up
We went to Sabx2 noodles stall for the last time before we do some last minute shopping at Platinum mall.
Overall, the trip was pretty successful with a couple of hiccups but all’s fine now. I’ll definitely be back to Bangkok soon and till then, *makes mental note to eat the braised pork rice there when I’m back* hehe
