3 Out Of 4 | Bali

Over the long weekend, the girls and I went to Bali for the second time in 4 years. That said, many things have changed. I guess the first hurdle was coordinating the trip. All of us had jobs and we have our own lives to lead so it wasn’t a surprise when one of them couldn’t make it to the trip due to work commitments. Still, I felt a little saddened by the fact that things aren’t the same anymore. I mean they can’t always be the same and things don’t always go as planned but it still bothers me when life is as such.

Part of me wanted to just abandon the whole trip but I know for a fact that that it wouldn’t have made me feel any better, so we followed through and planned the trip albeit the hiccup.

5D4N Bali Itinerary Summary:

Day 1- Ubud

Landed in Bali at around 12pm and arrived at our hotel at about 2pm. Did I mention there are so many vultures at Bali airport wanting to grab your luggage and transport you to your destination at absurd prices. We weren’t that smart 4 years ago, but we got smarter this time, so we took Grab instead. It costs us about 20 bucks SGD and it was cool cause the ride to Ubud was about 2 hours.

Checked into our hotel and grabbed lunch at some restaurant of which it wasn’t filling so we went to get snacks and shisha afterwards. Oh did I mention I wanted to go to the Ubud Bali Swing and it costs $35 USD?? And you must queue for it too. Oh hell no.

Day 2-Batur

Woke up at 2am for the Mt Batur climb and god was I tired. This wouldn’t be my first-time hiking Mt Batur but still its fucking tiring to do it. But well, the rest has never climbed Batur before so being the kind and generous soul I am, I’m going to do it AGAIN. Tbh this time, I felt it was much easier, maybe because there was a fucking human jam up the volcano and well, let’s just say…I like their pace. HAHA.

By the time we reached the second highest peak on top of the volcano, it was the crack of dawn already. We decided to just view the sunrise from there because we can’t make it to the peak in time to watch it anyway. Also, let me remind you, there’s still a human jam up to the peak of the volcano._.

The package we signed up for provided us with breakfast of which it comprises of banana bread literally and an hard boiled egg. Not too shabby but the fact that they brought it up the volcano (I think) is quite commendable so kudos to that.

Fun fact: The descend down the volcano was more treacherous than the ascend up the volcano. Like 10/10 you will fall down if you are not careful. Then there’s me. The expert. Kidding. I got tons of bruises despite not falling down. We didn’t have to descend fully down the volcano cause the van was waiting to pick up at the volcano midpoint so praise the lord Hallelujahhhh

Arrived back in our hotel and grabbed a quick shower before checking out from the hotel. We managed to grab some local food for lunch because we were famished. Clearly, banana bread and an egg wasn’t much a meal to start with. Oh, we got a massage too. Feet massage. Duh. Time to head off to our Seminyak Villa to live the high life muahahaha

We booked 3 nights at Taman Mesari Luxury Villas and well it did not disappoint. We went to grab dinner at Motel Mexicola and it was a pretty rowdy and mexicanish I suppose. Let’s just say it’s a bar, club and restaurant mushed into one. It was bloody noisy HAHA oh lord I’m old…er. It was my first time trying a full course of Mexican meal and I must say it was pretty good. The food itself was a good mix of flavors and I’m starting to realize why people love tacos so much. It’s pretty damn good I must say. The décor in the restaurant was pretty legit too. I much prefer if it was less rowdy but I guess there’s some good in the liveliness of the place.

Day 4- R&R, Grain Café, Double Six beach

We enjoyed a complimentary floating breakfast from the villa and chilled in our villa for the rest of the day. What’s a pool without some cute floats?! We rented the floats for a day and let’s just say we needed a camera man so we called the staff to help us take photos. The standard of the photos taken? Beyond disappointed is an understatement. Dude might as well take the pictures with his eyes closed. JK HAHA it was bad. Thank God I brought a tripod heh

Lunched at Grain Café and their food was not too bad. I loved their Grilled prawns risotto cause cmon who doesn’t love risotto. Also, I’m biased cause their playlist sounded like it was curated by yours truly. Another plus point:D

Went to Double Six beach for dinner and got to chill in bean bag chairs whilst enjoying the band. Such is life.

Mixed some drinks from the groceries we got from the nearby supermarket and the effort is on point HAHA Had some nice chill out session with the girls before we finally turned in at 3? Can’t remember

But what I do remember the insane headache I had the very next day ._.

Day 5- Padang Padang Beach, Uluwatu, Jimbaran Bay

We went to Padang Padang Beach and Uluwatu as part of a tour package and let’s just say the day was bloody hot. I mean its supposed to be sunny but damn the Bali sun is like scorching hot, I could feel my skin burning from walking in the sun. We also signed up for the Kacak Uluwatu fire dance and we had to wait 30mins facing the sun directly before the show started. The arena was packed to the brim…people just kept entering and there were barely any seats at all. Perhaps cause it was a Sunday but still. Overall, the fire dance was quite interesting, the performance had a mythic story line and the performers were dressed in very elaborate costumes. When it was time to leave the arena, everyone was swarming to get out and there were SO MANY people. The jam back to Seminyak was insane due to road constructions so we decided to get our dinner at Jimbaran bay.

Day 6- Home

Overall, I’d say it was a fulfilling trip with the girls because we haven’t spent such time together for quite some time. 4 years to be exact. Honestly, it was nice to know how everyone is coping with life and the shit that is happening. I guess the lesson to be learnt is if you keep comparing, you will never be happy. Sometimes when you think your situation is rough. There are others that are going through much worse. Life is a bitch that way. Well at least we know that we got each other’s backs, so at least you know that you will never be alone I suppose. I still hate change and well, slowly I just have to accept that things will never be like how it once was, and everyone moves on one way or another. I did. Sigh. Adulting really sucks.
