Parkland Green | Waffles The Samoyed

Did you know you have to let your puppy socialize with other dogs at a young age?

Or else it may give rise to serious behavioral problems, such as aggression or nervous behavior when they are older. Me neither.

Over the weekend, we brought Waffles on his first trip to a dog park (Parkland Green at Each Coast Park) to harness some of his social skills (and flaunt his beauty duh) and he had a blast. There were plenty of dogs there and all of them were very friendly and nice. There was this one lady that stood out, she owned a large Sheltie (Shetland Sheepdog) who seemed very fierce at first sight because it was barking non-stop at us when we tried to enter the gate. However, the lady owner went on to she share with us that that’s his way of welcoming other doggies so we proceeded to enter the gate.

Waffles started hanging out with the smaller dogs and after a good 20 mins he was WRECKED. He literally hinted to us that he was ready to go by sitting at the water basin area which was near the entrance. When we finally decided to leave the dog park, Waffles was dragging himself back to the car…for AIR CON. After some time, he cooled down and drank like a fish as we made our way back home. Needless to say, he fell asleep on his car ride back.

Overall, it was a nice experience and we definitely enjoyed ourselves. It was nice conversing with other dog owners and Waffles definitely made it easy to start conversations because he was drinking from other dog owners’ water bottles. Apparently it’s a thing for dogs to drink from other people’s bottles so there’s that. Note to self: Bring Waffles a water bottle the next time round and maybe some watermelons…for myself.

Till next time,

D
