Do you get weird questions like why aren’t you a teacher if you love teaching?
I do. Logically speaking, that’s probably the “right” occupation for me. But the sad reality is that it’s not that fun if I’m an actual teacher teaching in Singapore. It’s like if I turn my passion into a job, I’d hate it. I don’t want to hate it. I want to enjoy it without anyone hovering over me telling me what to do. You know know by now that reality is vastly different from your expectations.
Take content creation for example, I once worked in a marketing agency and did content management for them and I hated it. Everyday, you have to churn out content, headlines and “be creative”. It’s exhausting. When it’s a job, it becomes a chore and you start to lose passion or even start questioning if it’s worth it altogether. So no, I’d very much rather have the freedom to explore it as a past time and prolong the longevity of this passion. Besides, if things doesn’t work out, it’s good to have different sets of skills to stay relevant no?
