Where do we start? 2024 was a year of being more intentional and focusing on things that really mattered.
I actually broke up not once but twice and ended up with someone new right before the year ends. Honestly, he sold himself hard so I thought I might as well give it a whirl. Other than that, Mother got into not one but two scams this year. We seem to have a knack for different things if you really think about it. But it’s okay, what’s done is done and she’s more vigilant now and for that I’m glad.
This was also a critical year for S if I really think about it. We finally got the results of his long awaited sentence of 6 years and he will tentatively be out by end 2026 which is almost 2 years later. Honestly, time flies so fingers-crossed he comes out safe and sound. He tells me that there’s quite a lot of crazies in there and he opted to have his own cell just to stay away from them which is fair. Nevertheless, we will still continue to visit him regularly until then.
Whilst most of my peers seem to be getting married or doing their renovations this year, I actually sold my first property with my ex (finally) and got some decent returns from it too which is nice. I also managed to focus more on new hobbies like making kombucha (passionfruit is still my favorite), crocheting, baking and gardening. In fact, gardening was much easier than expected, Mother seems to be more invested than me in the plants now. A win is a win, now she can focus on her new hobby instead of pandering to scammers I suppose. Ngl I did spend 3 hours fixing up the planter space without any help because sister refuses to read the instructions tsk.
Work wise, my bosses actually knew that the department will be scrapped by the end of the year due to some internal reorganization. Apparently, staff costs in Singapore’s office is too high compared to other countries so they wanted to downsize and they retrenched quite a few people by December. One of my work bestie got the axe which was rather sad tbh but she has more freedom to pursue her other interests now I suppose. We held quite a number of corporate events this year and it was quite fulfilling to see everything falling into place smoothly. I’m quite thankful for the team I’m working with but unfortunately all good things must come to an end. In fact, I’ll be reporting to a different boss this year instead. Some good news though, I did finally get a promotion after 3 years? Not sure about the increment but I’ll get 22 days of leave now which is….AWESOME.
Travel wise, I did visit Europe for the very first time this year to Copenhagen so that was pretty nice. Also, I had a mother-daughter trip to Danang, a cultural trip to Chiangmai and a foodie trip to Ipoh too. This year, I’m planning to go to Korea with Mother and one to Turkey. The rest of the destinations have not been planned yet but I suspect I might be going China? Just for the fun. We shall see ~
How was your year? I hope it has been good too. Stay safe yalls
Lots of love,
D
