I’d say baking is my interest but let’s be real, making money is my true interest.
So this year, my bakes caught the attention of a buyer on Carousell and it has been quite an interesting experience.
Initially, he only bought 1 bottle of pineapple tarts to try and little did I know, he called back in 2 weeks to request get 30 bottles so that’s nice.
The craziest thing happened when I passed him the 30 bottles during our meeting; he asked if we could do 120 pineapple tart bottles in less than 2 weeks. He wanted to order on behalf of his company to send to his clients for Chinese New Year. I was literally shell-shocked.
Let me correct that, I literally said “Why good sir, we have 9-5 jobs here” HAHAHA
Jokes aside, I told him to let me go back to discuss with my “fellow bakers” and get back to him if we can fulfill the order.
Initially, I didn’t get much support for closing the order because “we can’t do it” “its crazy” “we are not a factory”. But if you know me, I really love a good challenge. Besides, I was working from home during that period so I had the flexibility to bake simultaneouly during working hours and so I agreed to to his deal of 120 bottles.
And so what was supposed to be handed over in 2 weeks, I completed in 3 days including 2 overnight bakes. I baked till 5am for 2 consecutive days (with some help of course). It fucking insane but when I completed the assigned, it was peak satisfaction for me.
Fun fact, during the handover, everyone was saying the customer might scam me and not appear or make payment but I believed him in good faith nevertheless. And yes, he did appear and make the payment. Its not a small sum so I’m bloody shook. I did it.
Would I do it all over again? Probably. Because I’m insane like that.
Its worth it though.
Heh.
